The Process

I create felt using the wet felting technique. Wool fibers are laid out in thin perpendicular layers, wetted down with warm water and soap and rubbed and rolled until the wool fibers mat together to form felt. Felt can be made gossamer thin and translucent enough to wear on a summer evening or thick and warm enough for the coldest winter days.

Botanical eco prints are made by layering plant leaves on felt or silk fabric. Steam is applied causing the plant material to release its natural tannins to form “ghost” leaf images on the fabric. The leaf prints left behind are unpredictable and are always a lovely surprise. Botanical prints made this way should be enjoyed for the treasure they are for as long as they last ....just like a bouquet.
